The Nigeria Senate resolved on Wednesday to probe into allegations of insubordination and abuse of due process against the Group General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Maikanti Baru.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu in a memo to president Buhari which surfaced on the internet on Tuesday, accused Mr Baru of insubordination and side-lining due process on recent appointments and the running of NNPC. The minister also said he suffered “disrespecting and humiliating conducts” from Mr Baru.
The senate also resolved to investigate Kachikwu’s call for the cancellation of the recent appointments in the NNPC and to carry out a holistic investigation into the finances and activities of the corporation.
The resolution came after a motion on the matter by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo Eas entitled, “Allegation of Corruption against NNPC Trading: Time to conduct a holistic investigation”.
